The EPA estimates that 75% of the American waste stream is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30% of it

I wanted to figure out a design to fix this ecological problem by creating some sort of a system that could separate trash into four categories: plastic, metal, landfill, and compost.

Borrowing from industrial scale recycling methods, I decided to design with AI driven trash detection mind.

Magnets hold the side plate on the machine

Automatic sensors in the top detect and instantly sort trash.

Four bins that can be individually be set to: Glass, Metal, Compost, or Landfill.
